The Union has a web page feature that links to local blogs. Blogs that focuses on local issues and events according to the web page. This blog focuses on local issues and the national issues that have a local impact. I wrote Brian Hamilton and suggested that The Union link to this blog. This is the nice response I received from Brian:
Thanks for reaching out. While I’m sure you do often provide commentary on local issues, just to be clear, we’re not looking for blogs that engage in the typical back-and-forth, left vs. right, national politics. There is enough of that on every cable TV “news” station, and an endless number of Internet websites and blogs as well. We’d prefer to focus on connecting our community and issues of local interest.
Brian goes on to offer me an opportunity to submit Other Voices articles to The Union. That would give The Union and opportunity to act as a gate-keeper, deciding if my ideas should be published. In the past my Other Voices, were filed in the black hole circular file. They just vanished.
I prefer, to decide what needs to be published. Yes, it would nice to have a larger audience than the
six nine regular readers of this blog, but I will keep trying to present ideas for their consideration. I some cases items of interest that The Union will not have the interest or expertise to address. Their blog links seem to filled with fluff and self-serving real estate ads. Warm and fuzzy stuff. Lets not deal with any real issues seem to be their mantra.
Please stay tuned and share this URL with your friends, it would be nice to have a few more regular readers.
