No Virgina, YubaNet is Not a Balanced News Source

Our local lefty blogger Mr P, is always complaining about The Union being the Tea Party Gazette, and promoting  YubaNet and Facebook as alternative sources of the news. I find that YubaNet is less than balanced and leans to the left. YubaNet is also a big supporter of anthropogenic global warming. Here is an example from the 8th of September edition:

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Sept. 8, 2014 – A report released today by Forecast the Facts Action and SumOfUs.org, Disrupt Denial: How big business is funding climate change denial in the 113TH Congress and Why They Should Stop, exposes U.S. companies, such as Google, Ford, Microsoft, UPS and eBay, for their financial support of Senators and House Representatives who deny the science of climate change. While these corporations present environmentally progressive public images, including support for national climate policies, they continue to support members of Congress who reject established science linking pollution to global warming.

Since 2008, Climate change deniers of the 113th Congress have received more than $641 million dollars in campaign contributions U.S. businesses and their employees. According to the report, about 90 percent of these contributions come from outside the fossil fuel industry, including the contributions below.

Google, $699,195
Microsoft, $1.07 million
Ford, $791,285
United Parcel Service, $1.97 million
eBay, $252,302

No mention of who funds the progressive think tanks that promote anthropogenic global warming and published this report, even though there is no scientific basis for the climate change claim, other then some dodgy computer models that could not even forecast the current 251 month pause is global warming.

The contributors to this “tell all” report are funded by the Citizens Engagement Laboratory, who are in turn is funded by lefty organizations who may have had access to the 24 Million that Norway has paid US Thinking Tanks to combat global warming skepticism.

Norway’s agreement with the Centre for Global Development, for example, imposed very specific demands. In return for Norway’s money, it was not simply asked to publish reports on combating climate change, but also to persuade Washington officials to double US spending on global forest protection efforts to US$500 million a year. More details HERE.

No mention of the fact that the US has spend billions on the promotion of climate change hysteria even though we have not seen any warming for almost 18 years.

According to the GAO, annual federal climate spending has increased from $4.6 billion in 2003 to $8.8 billion in 2010, amounting to $106.7 billion over that period. The money was spent in four general categories: technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, science to understand climate changes, international assistance for developing countries, and wildlife adaptation to respond to actual or expected changes. Technology spending, the largest category, grew from $2.56 billion to $5.5 billion over this period, increasingly advancing over others in total share. Data compiled by Joanne Nova at the Science and Policy Institute indicates that the U.S. Government spent more than $32.5 billion on climate studies between 1989 and 2009. This doesn’t count about $79 billion more spent for climate change technology research, foreign aid and tax breaks for “green energy.” More details HERE.

Now if our local lefty Mr P was correct, that YubaNet is more balanced than The Union, then we might have gotten a more balanced article.  It appears that those private companies only spend a few millions to promote politicians that do not support global warming, while the US tax payer paid billions to promote climate change hysteria.

Update: Thank for the Link to this story Mr P.

Did everyone see The Arnold back in Sacramento with Moonbeam celebrating AB32, California’s homebrew legislation for killing jobs and having no effect on anything to do with climate?

Jeff, it is not relevant to the discussion. The issue is YubaNet’s support for a failed hypothesis. Do you have some support for the hypothesis that human generated CO2 causing global warming?

Of course Yubanet leans left, and I do not think that Pasquale would argue that point. She does a very good job at what she does and does not alienate readers by attacking them constantly, like Pelline, for offering opposing views. The hypocrisy of claiming to be a balanced source of news, but always supporting liberal policies, is why Pelline draws the ire of reasonable folks. While Yubanet is a newsource that leans left, Pelline’s cesspool is not a news source at all…it is a place for opinions, but only opinions that match Pelline’s opinions. That narcissist needs validation…not reasonable debate. That is the reason his blog fails where Yubanet succeeds.

Right on the mark! Barry, Pelline is exactly what you have stated. YubaNet is lefty but I think they now see that the community came out to support her right to stay here and Pelline can’t handle that.
