Do Measure S Supporters Have Shrunken Brains?

Consider this:

(CNN) — Using marijuana at an early age could have long-term consequences on your brain and it may even lower your IQ, according to a new study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Researchers found that compared to nonusers, people who smoked marijuana starting as early as age 14 have less brain volume, or gray matter, in the orbitofrontal cortex. That’s the area in the front of your brain that helps you make decisions.

“The younger the individual started using, the more pronounced the changes,” said Dr. Francesca Filbey, the study’s principal investigator and associate professor at the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas. “Adolescence is when the brain starts maturing and making itself more adult-like, so any exposure to toxic substances can set the course for how your brain ends up.”

Maybe the reason we are in so much economic trouble is that our liberal legislators are long time MJ users and have shrunken brains? A shrunken brain could also account for the failure of our local lefties to grasp the beauty of free markets.

Your thoughts? Does marijuana consumption shrink users brains? What are the long term consequences?

I lack depth perception because I was born cross eyed and my eyes weren’t corrected until I was almost 4 years of age. We now know if you aren’t using both eyes by age 3, a change takes place in the brain and you will never be able to use both eyes together.
The best example of a drug interfering with development is thalidomide which caused very visible birth defects. If you have never heard about thalidomide, you will get a good education about it by googling it. What has been learned about it is why a woman wishing to have a child is told to avoid drugs of any kind..
We know that alcohol can destroy brain cells and if you examine the brain of an alcoholic it is visibly different from a normal brain. This is very important to note because the brain, once you are an adult stops growing and for the most part, damage is permanent.
The simple answer is until the brain is mature which I suspect would be in the 20’s, it isn’t wise to consume anything that has the potential of alter the brain function because it could interfere with the normal brain development. Personally, I want 100% of my ability so the only drugs I take are ones needed for medical reasons. I don’t use drugs for recreation and that includes alcohol and tobacco. Caffeine is something I don’t use often because it has little effect on me but the side effects from withdraw aren’t nice.
I don’t require this of other because I can’t decide what is right for you but you should consider what you do today could be something you may live with the rest of your life.
