The Telegraph Today lists Nevada City as one of the Top Ten Dangerous Cities in California

Nevada City

People started settling in Nevada City in 1849 during the California Gold Rush. Nevada stands for “snow-covered” which is suiting for its snow-covered mountains nearby.

Located in Nevada county, just 60 miles North of Sacramento and 28 miles North of Auburn, the city has a total population of less than three thousand inhabitants, making it one of the most dangerous cities. It has a violent crime rate of 12.26.

Emphasis added by the editor.  Who would want to move their family to a community with a high crime rate. Is this a consequences of our local drug culture?

Perhaps the most important questions is,  are the crime rate stats true?  If so, what was the core cause?  How do we fix the problem so that Nevada County is considered a good place find a job or create a company and  raise a family?
