There was an interesting and totally miss leading Other Voices in The Union this morning by Paul Berger: Climate Change is real and a threat. Paul writes:
On a recurring basis we see extreme and catastrophic weather events, including our own California drought. It is a sad state of affairs that United States is the only civilized country in which there is any serious disagreement among its leaders on reality of, and serious threat posed, by climate change.
He suggests that government reports are the true gosspil and should be believed with out question. Well then, what about this report?
NOAA Study: Causes of Calif. drought are natural, not man-made:
Natural weather patterns and climate variability, not man-made global warming, are causing the historic drought that’s parching California, says a study out today from federal scientists. “It’s important to note that California’s drought, while extreme, is not an uncommon occurrence for the state,” said Richard Seager, report lead author and professor with Columbia University’s Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory. The report, “Causes and Predictability of the 2011-14 California Drought,” was sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
So, California’s drought is not caused by man made global warming. Please let Paul Berger know, so he does not appear so uninformed in his next Other Voices.
