I was shocked to learn that Nevada City is planning to add over 100 parking places, this seems to run counter to UN Agenda 21, which is trying to save the planet from climate change caused by fossil fueled vehicles. Encouraging the use of vehicles, by providing convenient parking violates Agenda 21, which discourages the use of fossil fueled vehicles while promoting walking, biking, and use of electric vehicles.
This whole promoting tourism, encouraging people to drive to Nevada County is a violation of Agenda 21. To be consistent with Governor Browns plans to save the planet by making California an example for the world to follow, Cities and County should be doing everything they can to discourage driving, like limiting parking, unless it has an EV charging station.
I suggest rather than building more parking lots City Planners focus on creating Virtual Tours of Grass Valley and Nevada City Events so people can have the experience without driving, polluting the air with carbon emissions, which according to Mary Nichols at CARB creates life killing Ozone. By recording all future Nevada County events and providing them online for VR viewing users can have the Nevada County Experience without driving their vehicles, thus reducing the need for more parking.
